3 Tips For Creating Better Videos In Your Home

If you’re someone who likes making videos of yourself or your family while you’re spending time at home, there are a few things that you might want to do to help you make these videos of a higher quality and more enjoyable for others to watch.

To help you learn how this can be done, here are three tips for creating better videos in your home.

Avoid Using The Front Camera On Your Phone

For many people who make videos in their home, they use their smartphone as they record their videos and for some of the editing. If this is the way that you do your videos, one thing that you can do to create better videos is to avoid using the front camera on your phone.

While it might be helpful for you to be able to see exactly what you’re recording when you use the front-facing camera, the quality of the video that you create will be inferior when you do it this way. In almost all cases, the back camera on your phone will be higher quality and have more features available while you’re recording. So to start recording better videos, try setting your phone up on a tripod or other stabilizer, setting the scene before you’re planning to record, and then using the back camera to get the video footage you’re looking for.

Choose The Right Filming Space

Where you film your videos in your home can also have a big impact on how well the videos turn out.

As you’re creating the background for your video, think about things like how busy the space is around you and what might be pulling attention away from what you want to focus of your video to be. You’ll want to make sure that you’re the right distance away from any walls and that you have proper lighting. In many cases, filming videos in your kitchen is a safe bet, as it will have good lighting and not be too distracting.

Use Storyboards

Another great way to create better videos that you film at home is to create storyboards for how you want your videos to go.

While there is something to be said for spontaneity, planning out your videos and getting the right shots and audio will usually prove to have a better final product for you. There is software that you can use for storyboarding your videos, or you can just sketch something out so that you have a better idea of what you’re doing and how to get the best possible video when you get everything set up to start shooting.

If you create a lot of videos from home and you want to see some improvement with the production value, consider implementing some of the tips mentioned above.
